Balancing Colors and Flavors

La mode: Lately I’ve seen some bold looks combining the primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. I love how bright and cheerful it looks, but for some reason, I haven’t been able to get it to work for me. However, I did like what I got when I modified the colors a bit and combined wine, mustard, and navy.

Sweater: Gap; skirt: Gap; tights; Merona, Target; shoes: Merona, Target, gift

When I was experimenting with color combinations, I discovered a lack of cold weather-appropriate colored skirts in my closet. I’ve got sweaters in nearly all colors of the rainbow, but when it comes to skirts, this mustard one is feeling pretty lonely. I think I know what I’ll be spending my Christmas money on. (Is it too early to think about that?)

What color combinations are you crushing on right now?

Le dîner [dinner]: It’s pretty rare that a week goes by at my house without a pasta dinner. Aaron and I both love pasta, especially since it’s one of those meals that keeps on giving (read: leftovers). So I’m always on the lookout for easy, delicious pasta suppers.

Some time ago, I pinned this Shrimp Enchilada Pasta from Kitchen Belleicious, knowing that it was one I had to try. Well, I got tired of waiting for shrimp to go on sale, so I decided to make it using chicken instead. What a great decision—this was amazing!

Although the sauce, with enchilada sauce, cream and cheese, sounds heavy and rich, it’s surprisingly light and the flavors are perfectly balanced. I can tell that this one is going to become a household favorite.

  1. That skirt is so cute! I love the color and that you paired it with that shade of red.
